Mother-Daughter Day Shopping Trip!

My Moma and I have a tradition that between Christmas and New Years she and I go out for an entire day. Just me and her. Mother Daughter Day we just do fun things, like last year she took me to stage production of Les Miserables. I had so much fun! We stayed at a hotel, had dinner, and just hung out.

Unlike last year when my Moma had everything planed out, this year all we wanted to do was go and shop for clothes. My Moma had promised me that she would have taken me to the Ralph Lauren Outlet store and to the J. Crew Outlet that is right next to it. In the same outlet center, there is a Talbot outlet store, and a Kate Spade Store.

So on this shopping trip, there were some really great deals. So this is what i got on the shopping portion of the day.

From Ralph Lauren:

The first store we went to was the Ralph Lauren Factory Outlet. I wear my Ralph Lauren button-downs religiously. I travel in them, I wear them to school, around the house, you named I would most likely wear my Ralph Lauren button-downs there. My Moma promised me that we would go shopping. I just saw the cute pearl earrings and thought, "A girl can never have to many pearls."

From J. Crew:

Glittery-sequin shoes… now I can be a walking hazard for everyone around me. I have been wanting a pair of Etta Pumps for a while.

Color-block Boatneck Tee (Similar)

So we weren't even intending on going to J. Crew, but I did walk away from it with 4 dresses. They are all such classic dresses that I can wear to school and to other places. My Favorite may have to be the Retro Ponte Dress, I just think it is so pretty.

From Kate Spade:

I just love there little bags…

These may be the cutes earrings I have ever seen! I love Kate Spade!

My Moma wanted to go to talbots, but all they do is stuff there outlet store with stuff that they wouldn't sell in their real stores. We then went to Chipolte, and then we went to the Ripley's Believe It or Not. My Moma and I had so much fun! Mother-Daughter Day is one of my favorite family traditions.

What are some of you favorite family traditions? Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!

So Rue La La had a boutique last week that had some Lilly Pulitzer dresses in it, and i just happened to find this dress in my size.

Don't you love it!!! So Adorable and it has pockets!! So Lilly Pulizter doesn't sell this dress any more, but the dress is a Blossom Dress in Resort White, I found one on eBay so... but this is the best part. Sorry the dress is wrinkled, I just got it in the mail, but before I actually wear it out I will get it dry cleaned.

Originally, $288.00 ...

How To Make $15 into $40

I have had this cute Target dress for over a year. The last time I wore it to school one of the buttons in the front fell off. And for obvious reasons I couldn't wear it any more until I got four buttons to replace all the buttons. So a few days ago that is what I did. I went to a local fabric store and bought some ADORABLE coat of arms gold buttons.

All four buttons cost about $7.

I thought I would show y'all how I turned a $15 Target dress, into a $40 name brand looking dress.

This was the dress before I put the new buttons on. Its simple, and I am sorry the picture is so crappy but my real camera was hiding from me and I found it after I finished taking the pictures with my iPhone.

3 of the 4 buttons that I cut off of the dress. I have no clue where the other button is, I lost it over a year ago at school so who knows were it could be. As you can tell they are quite bland.

So what you will need is a lot of light (which I did not have when taking this picture), whatever color thread the dress is, (my dress was navy, so I stole, and then returned, some navy thread from my Moma), a needle, which is in between the spool of thread and the tiny pair of scissors. A tiny pair of scissors (makes cutting off the buttons easier and simpler), a big pair of scissors, which I also stole and then returned to my Moma.

I stuck myself a few times, but did not make myself bleed. You can thank the callouses that I have built up from all my years of piano.

It takes some talent to put those buttons onto that dress. Okay, not really, but for a person who had never sewn buttons onto anything in her life before, I did pretty well!

The dress after I was finished! What do y'all think? I would love to hear about your turning something that was cheap into something that looks a lot nicer! Thank you for reading!
