One Year of Blogging: A Reflection

With exam prep in full swing and exams getting scary close, I would like to reflect on my one year of blogging. Wow, this year has really flown by.

On May 28, 2013, an 8th grader was trying to find a way to relieve some stress from exams, and that when The Total Prepster was born. Well, not the girl, the blog…

I remember sitting down ash writing my first post, Hello There!. I had no idea what to say, how to start, or even what I was going to talk about. I knew I liked fashion, jewelry, and anything preppy. It has been 365 days (exactly, check the time stamp of my first post and this post if you don't believe me), 18,853 page views, 184 posts since I published by first post as The Total Prepster. And I wouldn't change a single moment since then.

Blogging has let me find myself, helped me find my inner writing voice which has helped my writing in school, and allowed we a place to express my feelings.

Shall we have a photo montage to finish the year off? I think we shall!!

Thank you for the best year of my life and here is to many more preptastic years ahead!

Italy and Greece Trip!!! Part 1

Hello, I have been a little busy lately. Back in April, during my spring break, I went to Italy and Greece with my school. It was so much fun! I know that people always say that when they go some where, but this really was a fun trip!

On of the things that I got really excited about seeing was all of things that I have been reading about in my two years of Latin! The colosseum (Flavian Amphitheater), Titus's Arch, Pompeii, and
Other things like the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican. and that was just in Italy! In Greece, I was the site of the first Olympics, the Parthenon, and other Greek ruins.

As the Latin geek that I am, I had a total freak out when I got to see the Arch of Titus, some thing that I actually got to read about in Latin class

Had an artsy moment at the Colosseum (aka the Flavian Amphitheater), another sight that I read about in my Latin class.

I took some pretty cool Panoramas at the Colosseum… with my friends head in it…

Visited the Trevi Fountain, twice, through a coin in both time. But sadly, I did not have a Lizzy McGuire moment and meet a hot Italian singer… :(

My group went to the Vatican… That was spectacular!!!

St. Peter's Basilica is MASSIVE!!!!!

Then we went to Pompeii and I had another Latin geek freak out….

To say that that was the best week of my like would be an understatement. I got to experience a culture that my family had brought over not even a hundred years ago. I ate pizza that was better than my Grandmothers (but don't tell her that). I also got to speak Italian, which was something that I had been practicing since Christmas time. I would not take back those 9 days for anything… Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!!

The Flu

So, I have the flu. For the second year in a row, even though I got a flu shot both times. I literally feel like I have been ran over by a steam roller. I sound even worse. I wound like have have smoked a pack a day for 30 years. I went to my pediatrician yesterday and when you see a teenage who can nearly keep seating up straight you get a lot of sorry looks. My doctor said that the system failed me twice by me having the flu two years in row with a flu shot.

Just for everyones amusement.

The one thing that is different from this year is that I am actually able to stay awake more then to eat dinner or take a shower. I have been getting my own food, sitting up on my own, getting out of bed with out my Moma having to take the blanket away from me.

The one up side to having the flu this week has had to have been being able to watch the Olympics. My Moma and I really got in the women's Ice Hockey game last night. USA beat Switzerland, 9-0!! We both really wanted them to get in to a fist fight. Figure Skating has also been really good. Has there ever been a time in your life when you have been sick and you are just dead to the world? Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!

The Olympics

Last night, I got nearly any homework done because I was watching the Olympics! I loved the 2012 Olympics in London! The first Olympic games that I really got into was the 2008 Beijing Summer Games, and I remember a little bit about the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.  I watched the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games, those games I really enjoyed. The first thing that I did when I got home this afternoon was turn on NBC to get ready for the Olympic coverage! So I am really excited for the opening ceremonies!!!

14 New Years Resolutions for 2014

Happy New Years Eve!!! Since here on the East Coast we only have 4 hours left of 2013, I thought I would make my first New Years resolution that I have ever written down. I am going to make 2014 a really great year not that 2013 hasn't been. Lots of things have happened for my during 2013. I went to Costa Rica, started high school, and most of all started this blog.

This blog has been one of the best things for me. It has helped me write better, has helped me find my fashion sense, and most of all gave me an outlet for when I don't want to think about school or life. Since May 28th, 2013, writing this blog has been one of the things that I have looked forward to most. But know that it is about to be 2014, I have made a list of the 14 things I am going to either promise myself to do or resolve.

1. To post on this blog every weekday.
I am not promising everyday, but every weekday.

2. Take better care of my hair.
My split ends now have split ends…

3. Learn Italian.
I am going to Italy and Greece in April with school, so I need to learn.

4. Read more.
I want to find more time in 2014 for reading, and not school books either. And more blogs.

5. Be more out going.
I want to me able to walk on the wild side this year.

6. Take more risks.
This time next year I want to have said that I have taken a risk.

7. Travel.
Get at least three more of the states that I have never been to.

8. Get an A in Algebra II/Trigonometry.
I really want an A or at least an A- in that class.

9. Learn at least one thing new.
I love to learn new things, so in 2014 I want to learn one new thing.

10. Organize my life.
I really need to get organized - my blog, my closet, my desk, etc.

11. Get at least one sponsor.
I want to start to grow my blog and get more sponsors.

12. Do my makeup more often.
I really need to start wearing makeup everyday. I am a teenager.

13. Give love a chance.
Never had a boyfriend, I will be 15 this year, should get one.

14. Just Have Fun!

What are some of your New Years resolutions for 2014? What is everyone doing every doing for New Years? I am going to make 2014 the best year yet. Thank you for reading and have a preptastic New Years!
