14 New Years Resolutions for 2014

Happy New Years Eve!!! Since here on the East Coast we only have 4 hours left of 2013, I thought I would make my first New Years resolution that I have ever written down. I am going to make 2014 a really great year not that 2013 hasn't been. Lots of things have happened for my during 2013. I went to Costa Rica, started high school, and most of all started this blog.

This blog has been one of the best things for me. It has helped me write better, has helped me find my fashion sense, and most of all gave me an outlet for when I don't want to think about school or life. Since May 28th, 2013, writing this blog has been one of the things that I have looked forward to most. But know that it is about to be 2014, I have made a list of the 14 things I am going to either promise myself to do or resolve.

1. To post on this blog every weekday.
I am not promising everyday, but every weekday.

2. Take better care of my hair.
My split ends now have split ends…

3. Learn Italian.
I am going to Italy and Greece in April with school, so I need to learn.

4. Read more.
I want to find more time in 2014 for reading, and not school books either. And more blogs.

5. Be more out going.
I want to me able to walk on the wild side this year.

6. Take more risks.
This time next year I want to have said that I have taken a risk.

7. Travel.
Get at least three more of the states that I have never been to.

8. Get an A in Algebra II/Trigonometry.
I really want an A or at least an A- in that class.

9. Learn at least one thing new.
I love to learn new things, so in 2014 I want to learn one new thing.

10. Organize my life.
I really need to get organized - my blog, my closet, my desk, etc.

11. Get at least one sponsor.
I want to start to grow my blog and get more sponsors.

12. Do my makeup more often.
I really need to start wearing makeup everyday. I am a teenager.

13. Give love a chance.
Never had a boyfriend, I will be 15 this year, should get one.

14. Just Have Fun!

What are some of your New Years resolutions for 2014? What is everyone doing every doing for New Years? I am going to make 2014 the best year yet. Thank you for reading and have a preptastic New Years!

Kiel James Patrick and the Bow Bracelet

Another great Christmas gift that I got was a Cherry Till Bracelet from the Vicker's Collection by Kiel James Patrick.

I love bows and pink…

It does really well with another one of my Christmas gifts! I can wear this with so many things in my closet. I love the versatility of bows. The men have bow tie, the girls have a lot of other things. I have been wearing bows since a very young age. Just look at this little dress with the little bows on it…

Who wants a Vicker's bow for KJP? Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!

Land's End Christmas Gifts

I love after Christmas because you get to wear all the new clothes that you get! Two things that I got for Christmas was a shirt from Land's End, and a vest with Tennis racket embroidery.

This is a perfect outfit for a day when you are out and about shopping, or just taking a nice stroll in the park. Everything in the outfit is from Land's End Except for the Bean Boots, which are from L.L. Bean.

What were some of your favorite Gifts that you got for Christmas? I would love to hear! Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!

The Signet Ring

The one gift that my parents gave me that I was genuinely surprised by was a signet ring with my monogram on it. Most everything else that I got for Christmas I emailed my Moma about, but not this. I didn't even ask for it. They got my something that I wanted but all at the same time didn't know I wanted it.

To top it all of, it was the last gift I opened yesterday morning. My family has this order, we open gifts, eat breakfast, and then open our stockings/bags (more about the stocking fiasco later). But this year my Moma wanted to open stockings right after we finished opening gifts. Boy, did I love her for that.

My signet ring was wrapped in a small box that was all the way at the toe of my stocking. Meaning it would be the last thing I grabbed out of my stocking. My Moma got the idea from her mother, my Nana. Nana used to do the same thing, always leaving a really good present at the bottom of the stockings to that it would be the last thing opened.

My father even has a signet ring. My Moma gave it to him when they got married. My Daddy has never taken off his wedding or his signet ring in the 22 years that he has had both. But after those 22 years, the ring has become pretty beat up.

Now to the history portion of this post:
The signet ring can be traced back to the ancient world, where the patriarch of the family would wear the ring of the family. By placing the ring on to a wax tablet it would create a seal. It was like the families signature. The word "signet" has it origins from the Latin word "signum" which means sign (sorry, the Latin Student in me had to show off a little :) ).

The signet ring is also supper preppy. I was one in the Christmas catalog for Mark and Graham. But mine came from a local jewelry store. In my life I have seen a lot of people with signet rings, but not known that they were signet rings. Some men wear them, like my father, but women's are smaller and harder to recognize as a signet.

Who else has a signet ring? Who wants a signet ring? Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!

Happy Anniversary to My Parents!!

Twenty two years ago today, my parents got married. Yes, my Parents got married on Christmas Eve, and my Moma's parents got married on Christmas Eve-Eve.

My parents met two days after Valentines Day of 1991, on a blind date. My Daddy has always said that four hours after he met my mother he knew he was going to marry her. After my mother took a steak knife to the box of Cracker Jack's that my father so artfully hide her engagement ring in, they set a date to be married: December 24. Forty years and one day after my Moma's parents got married.

About seven and a half years after that Christmas Eve, the had this little bundle of joy:

I get the sassiness from my Moma…

Yes, I looked like an old man in a dress. But I was adorable! I really wouldn't be here if it were not for Christmas! I have had a great day, I hope everyone else has too! Have a Preptastic Christmas tomorrow!! Thank you for reading!

World, Meet jGwd!

So on Monday December 16, jGwd came in to this world. He is my Aunt P's grandchild. He weighted in at 9.6 pounds and 22  inches long, and was born via c-section. Little G was a whole two and a half inches longer and 2.1 pounds bigger then I was when I was born.

Just look at those cheeks!!!

He looks like he is three months old…

I am so happy that this little Christmas miracle was born! I am going to buy him bow ties and every thing preppy when he is old enough! His cousin, wDCe was born on 11-11-11, and was a very averaged size baby.  I love to spoil E with monograms and girly things! She is so adorable! wDCe and jGwd both go by their middle name,s with is just so preppy!

G was a something that made me so happy while taking exams. I was jumping up and down when I hear the news. I was anxious for pictures. My Moma and I desperately wanted photos of the new baby. When I did finally get pictures of jGwd, he was immediately made my wallpaper on my phone.

Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!

Warby Parker

I was conntacted a while ago by Warby Parker asking me to feature two of their new collections, their Winter Collection and their collaboration collection with Leith Clark. I always thought that the look of Warby Parker's glasses were something that I love being a person who always loves vintage things. After all my homecoming dress was a replicated 1950's dress. I love how timeless there glasses are! They can give anyone that retro edge with out looking like you just stepped out of a time machine.

Here are the glasses that are features in Warby Parker's Winter Collection:

I have put all of these links in either men or women, so if you would like the other gender you can find them on the Winter Collection page. My favorite pair of frames from this collection is the Durand in the Whiskey Tortoise. They just look so sophisticated I would love to have a pair of them. I think I am going to ask for them for my birthday in May!

Who wants a pair from either collection? I know I want them all!!! I love the collection by Leith Clark, they are all so feminine and retro!

Warby Parker also has a home try on program! You can also purchase a E-Gift Card for a friend! I think I may use the home try one service for the Winter collection! Sadly, the Leith x Warby Parker you can not. Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!

Day 3 of Exams = Over With!!

After I took my English exam this morning I felt like I had just been ran over by a freight train. All I did from 8:30 to 11:30 this morning was sit at a desk, stare at my laptop screen, and type. Day three of exams - DONE!! Thank heavens!!

Tomorrow, I get to sleep in a little later because I don't start my exam until 9:15, but go until 12:15.  All of my class mates get to sleep in though. :( They took english and math today, were as my dyslexic brain can't go from words to numbers that quickly so my Moma was able to get a letter from my psych doctor in time for today. But tomorrow maybe my toughest exam yet. I was stressed about my English exam, and now that I have taken that my stress level has plummeted. Now I am worried that I won't do well on my Algebra II/Trig exam!! What is wrong with me!?!?

I best go and study for my first, last midterm exam of high school! Wish me luck! Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!

Day 2 of Exams

I have survived my second day of high school exams!! Yesterday, I had World History and Physics. Boy did my brain hurt yesterday! During exam week, each exam is two hours and you have two exams, with a break of about ten to twenty minutes in between the two exams. Today, I only had one exam, Latin.

My Latin exam went well. I got into the room and went through the test and about twenty minutes in I started saying to myself "I don't know this!!! I am going to fail." But after I did all the things I did know I went back and realized that I did know it.

During exam week the students get to dress comfortably, so like sweatpants, yoga pants, and jeans. Because yesterday was Monday, I wore athletic/sweatpants and a long sleeve t-shirt. But today because I only was going to be at school for two hours, I decide to wear jeans and a button up shirt. Yesterday and today I opted to go no contacts and just wear my glasses. When you are siting in one place for two hours, in a cold room, with no one moving or saying a word, contacts tend to dry out and they start to hurt your head.

Now, you all know what I actually look like in glasses. I have Ray-Ban's that I absolutely love. Everyone in my grade who has been with me for more then three years know that I wear glasses. I started wearing glasses in 1st grade and got contacts in the beginning of 7th grade. I haven't even had my Ray-Bans for a full year yet, I only got them this past January.

You really can't tell in this photo, but they are tortoise shell not black. I have tried on glasses with black frames and they make my face and hair look really weird. The brown in the tortoise shell makes my hair look lighter and my eyes darker.

The frames I have are one of Ray-Bans most popular frames. On the website they are called timeless. They really are though. I could go back the any decade in the last 50 years and not look out of place. I also just really like time less things. There official style name is RB5228.

In this picture you can see the light brown with in the tortoise shell.

My English teacher, Mrs. N, even said to me that she had never seen me in glasses. Even walking in the halls people were having to take double takes when they realized that I had glasses on. Wish me luck tomorrow on my English exam! Thank you for reading and have a preptastic day!
